Wai-Hihiri Service - Training and Employment Service
The Programme focuses on the retention of Māori in employment-focused training opportunities, providing a beginning to end wrap- around support service throughout the whānau employment and training journey. This programme is for whānau Māori living in Te Raki Paewhenua who are unemployed, under-employed, employed or aspiring to work in a trade or wish to transition to an aspirational employment pathway. Kaiārahi will support participants and whānau as they navigate to achieve their aspirations. Participants are fully engaged 6 months after enrolment of that participant in the Programme. Included in the service are:
- Training and Employment Plan
- Enter an Apprenticeship or
- Employment leading to a Level 4 qualification
Wai-Hihiri Criteria
Identify and target working age whānau Māori living in Te Raki Paewhenua who are unemployed, under-employed, employed or aspiring to work in a trade or wish to transition to an aspirational employment pathway.
You will do all that you can to ensure the identified person and their whānau benefit from the wrap-around pastoral care and support that the Programme can offer with the goal of achieving the maximum benefit.
Wai-Hihiri Outcomes
Provide wrap-around support services for programme participants. Kaiārahi will support participants and whānau as they navigate to achieve their aspirations Participants are fully engaged 6 months after enrolment of that participant in the Programme.
Engagement is:
a. For those in an apprenticeship pathway:
- Are still in an apprenticeship; and
- Have remained employed and progressing in an apprenticeship for at least the first 6months since commenced engagement
b. For those in an employment and Level 4 Qualification pathway:
- Are in employment; and - Have been in employment for at least the first 6 months since commencing engagement; and
- Are on track to achieve a Level 4 Qualification on the NZ Qualifications Framework
